Definition

Secure delete aims to make recovered files unreadable by overwriting data (more than emptying Trash). On modern SSDs, full-disk encryption plus device wipe is often the practical approach.

Real-World Example

Before selling a laptop, enable encryption and factory-reset rather than only dragging files to Trash.
