Definition

A SIM swap (or SIM hijack) tricks a carrier into moving your number to an attacker’s SIM so they can intercept SMS codes and calls.

Real-World Example

After a SIM swap, victims suddenly lose signal while attackers receive 2FA texts for email and banking.
