Definition

A zero-permission app is installed without the usual camera, mic, or location grants. It can still leak data through side channels, ads, or OS features — “zero permission” is not the same as zero risk.

Real-World Example

An Android flashlight listed as needing no permissions that still reads the clipboard or unique device identifiers through other APIs.
